July 4th is Independence Day in the USA. A day that we celebrate our freedoms from colonial England's policies on taxes, representation, and property rights. The American Constitution and Declaration of Independence documents still ring true today. Commonsense approaches to governance that has evolved to support the modern age. Fast forward 243 years and we still are free to pursue our passions, vote for the politicians we want, control property, and observe the religions we want to.
Today's worldwide headlines show wars, regional conflicts, trade issues, and voter manipulation. In the news, we see images of people giving everything to come to the USA. In spite of this negative news, why celebrate the 4th? Because this is still the best country on Earth. We have jobs, strong economic fundamentals, regular elections, and numerous personal freedoms. People want to live and move HERE. These basic qualities of life are not true in many countries. Sure we have internal problems and issues with other countries. But they can wait until July 5th.
For the 4th of July, Independence Day, I will celebrate America and hope that my fellow Americans do as well. Enjoy the holiday!
