My next digital marketing workshop at SCORE is coming up on July 23, 2019. I believe that Digital Marketing is a three-legged stool: 1-email, 2-social media, 3-Search Engine Marketing (SEM). SCORE is helping small businesses with workshops on each leg of the Digital Marketing stool.
In the first workshop of this series, was on social media. We looked at what channels (e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn, or Instagram) to use and building a schedule for posts. In this July 23rd workshop, we will look at Search Engine Marketing (SEM), basically Google (and Bing). The keywords that people type into Google (or Bing) can be used to show them relevant ads along with the search results. These text ads are extremely effective for generative website traffic and potential new customers. My colleague, Ms. Arvinder Kaur, will be co-teaching this workshop. Ms. Kaur is the founder of Metrics Matter, a digital marketing consultancy in Richmond, Virginia. She is also an experienced SCORE mentor.
Our plan is to briefly review digital marketing strategy, and then introduce the basics of Google Ads (formerly AdWords), the #1 SEM tool. We will also do a live demo of a simple Google keyword ad campaign. Workshop attendees should have a Gmail account setup and a live website. We will walk them through Google Ads setup, keyword planning, and starting a live campaign.
To learn more or signup for the workshop, check out the SCORE website here. The social media workshop is scheduled again for October 1st, 2019. Hopefully, we have details on the third workshop in this series, email marketing this fall.
SCORE is a resource for small business that offers workshops, mentors, and programs to help small businesses grow. I am proud to support the Richmond, Virginia SCORE chapter and call several of the mentors' friends. I am excited to join Arvinder in this workshop and we hope it will be useful.
